Terms and Conditions:

  1. The initial meeting with a parent/carer, the Intake Session, takes place prior to the child attending play therapy. This addresses parent’s concerns, the presenting issues, and taking a child’s full development history. On average this takes an hour, however in some cases it may take a longer time, or indeed, several meetings may be needed.

  2. This meeting may highlight the need for parenting support, and work in this area will be undertaken before the therapeutic process with the child can begin.

  3. Occasionally, parenting support is the only requirement.

  4. It is usual for a child to attend a minimum of 10/12 weekly sessions with the play therapist. However, because every child is unique, his/her situation will also be treated in the same way. Therefore, the overall length of time i.e., the total number of sessions, varies for every child and depends on their specific need.

  5. Each psychotherapy session with a child lasts for 50 minutes.

  6.   There will always be a session before, and after, your child’s session so please try to adhere to your time.                                                                                                                        This prevents parents meeting in the driveway and ensures everyone’s privacy.

  7. A comprehensive review meeting takes place between the parent/carer and the therapist after 4/6 sessions.  However, the play therapist will always keep the parents updated on any significant developments in a child’s weekly process.
